How to Feel Fully Alive | Letter to a Friend #10

Hola friend,

I have been thinking about fear (again) lately. Mainly because I have realized I am afraid to make another Youtube video for fear of more hate after the last fiasco. I am also re-reading a book called The Way of the Superior Man, which has a lot to do with love and relationships but also mission/purpose as someone with predominantly masculine energy.

In a chapter titled, "Know Your Real Edge and Don't Fake It", author David Deida asks the reader, "Where do your fears stop you from making a larger contribution to humankind, from earning a higher income, or from earning money in a more creative and enjoyable way? If you were absolutely fearless, would you be earning a living in exactly the same way as you are now? Your edge is where you stop short, or where you compromise your fullest gift and, instead, cater to your fears."

If we are honest with ourselves, it is likely none of us are living at our edge, me included. I feel that there have been times, however, where I have, and they were ecstatic. It is a feeling of lying down to sleep at night and knowing that you won, not your fears. You were afraid/reluctant to do something, but you did it anyways. I cherish that feeling, and I know that I am not living with that kind of courage right now.

I'm not beating myself up about it - simply realizing that I need to step up my game again. So here is my commitment: Two Youtube videos published this week (after two months of none).

What's your commitment? What are you afraid of doing, and how can you make a commitment to someone (could even be replying to this email) that you will do that thing? It's likely you will immediately know the answer - you will just be reluctant to choose it. Your mind will go, "Nahhh, not that one, pick something else."

I encourage you to pick that one. 🙂

Happy conquering, and please let me know how it goes if you so desire!

Much love.
Ryan
